Teachers from across UK selected to be UK Parliament Teacher Ambassadors
35 teachers from across the UK have been successful in applying to attend “Teachers’
Institute” at the UK Parliament, 27 – 29 June 2022.
Successful applicants will attend a three-day training event in Parliament. Fully funded by
UK Parliament’s Education and Engagement Service, attendees have the opportunity to
engage in a Q&A with the House of Commons Speaker and the Lord Speaker, and hear from
parliamentarians of all parties about their work.
Those selected to attend Teachers’ Institute go on to become UK Parliament Teacher
Ambassadors for Parliament's Education and Engagement Service, and train their students
and colleagues about the role of the UK Parliament.
Since its launch in 2006, Teachers’ Institute has trained more than 1,000 teachers from all
parts of the UK, giving them a detailed understanding of how the House of Commons and
Lords work.
The interim Head of Education and Engagement at UK Parliament, Naomi
Jurczak, said:
“Hundreds of teachers from across the country have been trained through “Teachers’
Institute”, and in their roles as Ambassadors have gone on to teach thousands more people
about the UK Parliament. I congratulate this year’s successful applicants and thank them for
their support in inspiring and engaging young people with the work of the House of
Commons and House of Lords.
