Healthy Mind Healthy Body Superlearning Day
Today we have learned all about the brain and how to keep our bodies healthy.
Bronze Award for Teeth Brushing
We have been awarded a bronze award for brushing teeth in our Reception class.
Empathy in Year 2
Willow class has been looking at animal welfare and all about empathy in PSHE. We put on our empathy glasses yesterday to see if we could imagine how other people were feeling in different scenarios!
School Mental Health Award
We are delighted that St Silas Primary School has been awarded the Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health in Schools ‘School Mental Health Award’ – Bronze Status in partnership with Schools Advisory Service.
Year 6 activity holiday Feb 2023
Year 6 visited High Adventures in Yorkshire. They stayed for two nights. They had the opportunity to take part in climbing activities, orienteering, archery and teambuilding games.

Earthquake Disaster Appeal
A huge thank you to parents, staff and children for all the generous donations. We have a tremendous amount of food, toiletries, nappies and clothing to help the victims of the earthquake in Turkey and Syria!

Odd Sock Day
We started our work on Anti Bullying with odd sock day. All the children and adults wore odd socks to school. During this week our children learned what bullying is and what to do if they think someone is being bullied.
EYFS Good Samaritan
Ash Class have started to learn about 'Compassion.' We listened to, then acted out the story of 'The Good Samaritan.'
Year 5 Outdoor Elements
Fabulous day developing our outdoor skills and teamwork.
Year 3 /Year 4 Outdoor Elements
Year 3/Year 4 enjoyed an activity day at Outdoor Elements. They enjoyed archery, orienteering and climbing. They also developed their teamwork skills. Being outside and being active was also brilliant for their mental health and wellbeing.
UK Parliament Teacher Ambassador
Mrs Matthews from St Silas will be joining the UK Parliament Teachers’ Institute 27-29 June. Better engagement and dialogue with young people is of fundamental importance to our democracy. Sadly our Year 6 trip to the Houses of Parliament was cancelled due to the train strike.
Jubilee Fair
On the 25th May we celebrated the Queen's Jubilee with our parents, past and present pupils and governors.

Walk to the park-Reception class
Reception really enjoyed their walk to Corporation park today! We looked at buildings in our local environment, practised being safe pedestrians and finally looked for signs of spring! A very busy afternoon!

Toilet Twinning
The certificates have finally come for our toilet twinning fund raising! Just in time for World Toilet Day. Congratulations to last year's Rowan class (now Beech) for raising money to build facilities for other people in the world.
Interfaith Day
Some Year five pupils had such a wonderful time at the interfaith day today! They learnt all about different religions and their similarities with love, charity and perseverance. There was even bottle flipping! A huge thank you to The Olive School for hosting us!
Remembrance
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old, Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them.
